Admissions Overview: The Lottery Process and Registration
The Hope Academy lottery will occur each year on March 1, as required by the Rhode Island Department of Education. To be considered for the lottery all eligible families who reside in Providence and North Providence must submit an application before the March 1 deadline. Applications will be available on The Hope Academy website as well as in the school office.
This lottery determines which applicants are enrolled the following school year. The lottery will take place on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 9am. To participate in the lottery, you must fill out an application form and submit it The Hope Academy by February 29th, 2016.
The Acceptance Process
Families who receive enrollment to The Hope Academy through the lottery will be notified in
writing and via email. Upon notification, the family will need to confirm their intent to accept enrollment by submitting a confirmation statement to the school within fifteen (15) days of the lottery. The Hope Academy will make a reasonable effort to contact enrolled families. If a family fails to confirm enrollment by the established deadline, The Hope Academy will offer enrollment to another family in the first position on the waiting list. If a family chooses to decline enrollment their slot will then be offered to another family in the first position on the waiting list.
If a family accepts enrollment they must provide a copy of the student’s birth certificate and two verifications of residency. The list below shows what you can submit as proof of residence.
- copy of current lease
- copy of current mortgage
- copy of identification card (license, passport, etc.)
- bank account statement (within 90 days)
- paycheck/stub (within 90 days)
- copy of utility bill (within 90 days)
The Hope Academy requires all incoming kindergarten students to attend a kindergarten orientation program for one week before the start of the school year. Information regarding this readiness program will be sent home with the registration packet.
The registration packet will include but is not limited to:
- Enrollment form
- Family Information Form
- Prior academic records
- Special Education records
- Home language survey
- Medical forms
- Emergency contact forms
- District Notification
During the summer, prior to the start of the school year, The Hope Academy will hold a family orientation for all new families.
